Lego Goes Geek: Odes to Science Via Our Favorite Building Blocks

Lego Goes Geek: Odes to Science Via Our Favorite Building Blocks
Wired magazine took to the Internet to round up a collection of "the best, quirkiest, most innovative examples of science-inspired Lego creations," and boy did the Internet deliver. Chemist Tim Goddard built a Lego model of the Mars Curiosity rover, currently on its mission to see if the red planet can, or ever did, support life, as a celebration of the last NASA shuttle mission. And speaking of NASA, certified Lego Professional Neil McNaught flawlessly recreated the Saturn V rocket that took Neil Armstrong to the moonâ€"standing 19 feet tall. Also in the mix: Lego genetic code, Lego Kidney, Lego robotic limb, and Lego fire. Most striking, perhaps, is the model built by Bruce Lowell, who captured the awesome power of atomic energy by creating a Lego mushroom cloud. A nuclear explosion with Legosâ€"that's one way to stop worrying and love the bomb.
